An enjoyable test of golf, for players of all abilities. Come along and experience a true hidden parkland gem.

Williamstown Golf Club is based at Williamstown municipal golf course in Waterford City. It has been designed by the renowned, late and great Irish golf course architect Eddie Hackett. A par-72, 18-hole golf course, it is set on 130 acres of rolling countryside. At 6,700yd, it is one of the longest, inland, 18-hole courses in Ireland. It combines excellent golfing with beautiful countryside, yet is only minutes from the centre of the Waterford city.
In addition to the course, we also have putting and practice facilities for the convenience of golfers. The surrounding environment has been perfectly adapted to the needs of the golfers for a fulfilling game of golf. There are plenty of hurdles in the form of sand traps and water hazards to confound golfers on our fabulous course.
Beginners and the seasoned golfer will appreciate the fact that the course charges extremely reasonable green fees that won’t break the bank. This fact alone makes this club a great place to learn and enjoy all aspects of golf.

CLUB HISTORY
Even though we are a relatively new club, we have gone from strength to strength with each passing year, which now includes, not only a Men's club, but a vibrant Ladies Club and Junior section also.
The club origins began when a group of annual green fee members of Williamstown Golf Course held a meeting on the 29th June 2000, with the sole objective of forming a golf club, that was to be affiliated to the Golfing Union of Ireland.
Over the course of the following year, the club then agreed a licence with Waterford City Council for use of it's facilities in Williamstown for club competitions, and after some tireless and diligent work carried out by the original club committee, the club duly became officially affiliated to the Golfing Union of Ireland at the Munster Branch ADM in Mallow on the 22nd November 2001.
With each passing year, a new milestone was achieved for the club which included hosting our first GUI Inter-club event in May 2003, namely the Barton Shield.
While the club and course continues to grow from strength to strength, this can only be achieved by our loyal club membership and the hard work behind the scenes of the club officers and committee each year.
To this day we have three of the founding members of the club still gracing the fairways of Williamstown, namely Seanie Browne, Jack Morrissey and Barry Moloney, without their vision, we wouldn't have the club we have today, and we look forward to the many years ahead in carrying on their original idea and progressing even further.
Course Details
Hole 1 - Par 4, Index 14 - Blue 293 metres, Yellow 291 metres, Red 258 metres
A gentle opening hole which requires an accurate tee shot to a fairway which slopes from left to right. The left side of the fairway is guarded by two fairway bunkers, and out-of-bounds stretches down the left-hand side from tee to green.
Hole 2 - Par 4, Index 4 - Blue 334 metres, Yellow 315 metres, Red 259 metres
A par 4, dog leg from right to left. A real risk-reward hole, decide whether to play safe from the tee or take the risk to cut the dog leg corner to massively shorten the hole. The danger doesn't end there with the green nestled in beside an intimidating lake.
Hole 3 - Par 4, Index 18 - Blue 277 metres, Yellow 229 metres, Red 197 metres
A short hole but can be fraught with difficulty without an accurate tee shot. Once the lake in front of the fairway is cleared from the tee, a tree lined fairway lays in wait, an accurate tee shot can provide an ideal opportunity for birdie.
Hole 4 - Par 3, Index 16 - Blue 144 metres, Yellow 124 metres, Red 112 metres
The first Par 3 of the course. Plays downhill with a false front at the green, any tee shot needs to carry to the green or catch the slope and come up short. Long is not an option, as there is no room for error behind the green.
Hole 5 - Par 5, Index 10 - Blue 454 metres, Yellow 437 metres, Red 397 metres
Our first Par 5 will test your driving accuracy and strategy, with strategically placed penalty areas awaiting an errant tee shot. Long hitters will be tempted to take on the green in two shots where a penalty area on the left and a lake on the right will gather up any shot that is less than perfect, otherwise a lay up, leaving a short iron to the well guarded green is the sensible play.
Hole 6 - Par 3, Index 8 - Blue 200 metres, Yellow 184 metres, Red 147 metres
A test of long range accuracy awaits you on the second Par 3 of the front nine. Any approach shot not carrying the required distance will find the bunker that lays in wait, 30 yards short of the green. The large green is receptive to accurate shots but is also framed by two green side bunkers.
Hole 7 - Par 4, Index 12 - Blue 346 metres, Yellow 331 metres, Red 298 metres
No hidden secrets here, the hole is laid out before you. A good straight tee shot is essential to provide the position to attack this tricky two tiered green, which nestles between two bunkers and flanked by run off areas.
Hole 8 - Par 4, Index 6 - Blue 322 metres, Yellow 310 metres, Red 271 metres
A true gem of the course, where danger lurks at every corner. A relatively short hole but with a penalty area down the left side and a lake down the right, the fairway is well guarded against any wayward tee shots. Once you safely navigate the tee shot, you then have an approach to a slightly elevated but undulating green that can be difficult to hold. An excellent hole, that has plenty of risk and reward.
Hole 9 - Par 5, Index 2 - Blue 485 metres, Yellow 470 metres, Red 451 metres
A fine hole to test your all round game to finish the front nine, penalty area's define the limits of the fairway with your tee shot, then the hole doglegs left and uphill to a large two tiered, contoured green surrounded by bunkers. A true challenge before tackling the back 9.
Hole 10 - Par 3, Index 11 - Blue 195 metres, Yellow 156 metres, Red 103 metres
A strong Par 3 to start the back nine. From a slightly elevated tee, an accurate shot is required to navigate the narrow green which is flanked by bunkers and a penalty area. Once again, any approach shot coming up short will also find the bunker protecting the front of the green.
Hole 11 - Par 5, Index 17 - Blue 430 metres, Yellow 411 metres, Red 362 metres
A fair and compelling hole which rewards a strong tee shot here, a generous driving hole, with ample opportunity to hit the fairway. There is a deep hollow 90 metres from the large receptive green, that will gather up any less than perfect second shot. A three shot strategy here will provide you with a wedge to the green and a great chance for birdie.
Hole 12 - Par 4, Index 1 - Blue 419 metres, Yellow 368 metres, Red 319 metres
A test of power from the tee, and sublime accuracy into the green. The 12th hole has ruined many a scorecard, with out-of-bounds flanking the right hand side of the hole from tee to green, and a lake which lays in wait 50 yards short of the green. This hole provides a great test to every golfer.
Hole 13 - Par 5, Index 9 - Blue 495 metres, Yellow 382 metres, Red 287 metres
The longest hole on the course, is both challenging from the tee and demanding from the fairway. A long narrow green, designed to receive long shots will be a welcome sight, once you navigate your way through the bunkers first.
Hole 14 - Par 4, Index 5 - Blue 375 metres, Yellow 357 metres, Red 321 metres
A tough Par 4, with tree's lining both sides of the fairway to punish any errant shot. The ideal play here is to find the left half of the fairway, which will provide the best angle for your approach to the green. As is a feature of Williamstown, there is a bunker 30 yards short of the green which needs to be carried, further bunkers and undulating mounds surrounding the green, makes this a challenging approach.
Hole 15 - Par 4, Index 13 - Blue 298 metres, Yellow 282 metres, Red 263 metres
Whilst this may appear a respite from the previous holes, the 15th is underestimated at your peril. Finding the left half of the fairway from the tee is key to setting up a wedge or short iron approach to a small undulating green which repels any marginally wayward shot.
Hole 16 - Par 3, Index 15 - Blue 132 metres, Yellow 117 metres, Red 83 metres
One of the most visually appealing Par 3's on the course, the 16th hole is surrounded by tree's and requires a solid iron shot to an elevated green, several bunker complexes provide protection but a real birdie opportunity awaits you on this hole.
Hole 17 - Par 4, Index 7 - Blue 360 metres, Yellow 342 metres, Red 288 metres
'Wiltshires Woe's'
The 17th hole, where trouble awaits every shot on this hole, where accuracy is an absolute necessity. Out-of-bounds from tee to green down the left and a penalty area down the right, offers no room for error. Safely navigated, then this hole provides an opportunity to gain a stroke or two on your playing partners.
Hole 18 - Par 4, Index 3 - Blue 385 metres, Yellow 356 metres, Red 310 metres
One of the toughest holes on the course. This uphill, dogleg right to left hole, with out-of-bounds once again from tee to green along the left side, really requires two of your best shots to reach an elevated green, that is surrounded by bunkers and run off areas.
